Ocean Dunes Golf Links Joins Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program FLORENCE, OR - Ocean Dunes Golf Links located in Florence, has received certification in Environmental Planning from the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses. The Program helps golf courses develop effective conservation and wildlife enhancement programs. “The ACSP benefits both people and wildlife. It‘s a great way for the managers of developed properties to become better stewards of land and natural resources,“ explains Jim Sluiter, Staff Ecologist for Audubon International. “We welcome Ocean Dunes Golf Links’ commitment to the environment and to managing the golf course with wildlife in mind.”
The Ocean Dunes Environmental Plan was developed by Michael Harry, Golf Course Superintendent at Ocean Dunes, at the request of owner Randy Curtola. Michael is recognized for his effort to plan for environmental stewardship. “I am proud of Michael for stepping up and taking on the challenges presented by this program,” said Curtola. “Thanks to the ongoing efforts of Michael and his crew, we can begin to look forward to a greater understanding of the ecology of our golf course. The knowledge gained will enable us to manage the course and land in a more responsible and effective manner.”
