Back-to-back PNW Crew Tournament Championship Victories for Emerald Valley Golf Club
This year it was Western Washington GCSA’s (WWGCSA) turn to host the Pacific Northwest Crew Tournament Championship attended by qualifying teams from Oregon GCSA (OGCSA), Inland Empire GCSA (IEGCSA), and WWGCSA. OGCSA’s qualifying teams Emerald Valley Golf Club and Willamette Valley Country Club made the long trip up north on November 9th to American Lake Veterans Golf Course to battle for the trophy. Unfortunately, due to last minute injuries OGCSA’s Central OR champion Running Y Resort was unable to make the trip.
It was chilly with a frost delay, but Mother Nature cooperated and gave the five competing teams a dry sunny November day for play. This was in stark comparison to what the 2021 championship players encountered at Willamette Valley CC which was held during a downpour and the day after a major windstorm. That aside, Emerald Valley proved that they can play in either condition, and produced a score of 57 in the team scramble to bring home the title of PNW Crew Champion for a second year in a row! Congratulations to Dan Kjolberg, Jay Klemp, Mark Verplank and Dayne Miller (pictured above) on their repeat victory.

Special thanks to host Superintendent Randy Moen, and General Manager Bruce McKentry for welcoming our teams to American Lake Veterans Golf Course which is a course built exclusively for veterans and cared for by an army of volunteers. American Lake Golf Course has also been the site of the Inaugural 2019 and 2021 OGCSA – WWGCSA Service Project. Another special thanks go to all our competing team players, and their clubs for supporting them to attend and represent the OGCSA!
2023 OGCSA Crew Tournaments will be held once again at Arrowhead Golf Club in August and Quail Run Golf Course in September. The top three teams will go on to compete in next year’s PNW Crew Championship hosted by either IEGCSA or OGCSA.
