Director, Golf & Sports Turf Business Development for POGO Turfpro System

Position Purpose Statement/Objective
The POGO Regional Sports Turf Business Development Director’s role is advancing the success of our company’s POGO Turfpro (www.turfpro.com) brand, value proposition, and deployment by engaging with superintendents and management of golf courses, sports turf, and parks & recreation facilities. This system is currently used in over 1,000 golf courses, used by FIFA World Cub in Qatar, and used at the Wimbledon tennis tournament. Such engagement includes developing opportunities, customer and reseller support activities, providing technical support, and engaging in proactive foresight to help the facilities’ superintendents and management succeed. This position will focus on retaining and growing existing POGO customers while developing new customers in the western United States and western Canada with emphasis on the west coast (California, Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia) (the “Region”).

Growth Activites
• Develop and test strategies and tactics to help advance interest, enhance market penetration, and drive revenue growth
• Bring the voice of the customer to the product and marketing teams to improve the POGO system’s value proportion and the user experience
• Work with marketing to develop compelling events, plans and materials to promote the POGO system
• Develop a funnel of prospects and leads and maintain and update the CRM system weekly.
• Advance branding and education of the POGO system by giving presentations and by visiting strategic universities in the Region
• Attend national and regional trade shows and events including state and national GCSAA meetings
• New and Existing Customer Direct Engagement
• Engage with users to ensure they are getting the most out of the POGO Turfpro system, which will help lead to further sales growth through optimal customer support with current and potential customers
• Monitor the POGO system usage to address potential product issues, dissatisfied customers, or training needs
• Monitoring and analyzing the data of users in the Region. Proactively communicating with superintendents with insight and recommendations, visiting courses to ensure maximum use of the POGO system
• Role will include being “the eyes in the sky” to help the superintendents and facility managers be most efficient and effective in their usage of the POGO system
• Visit golf courses and sports turf facilities to expand the brand and knowledge of POGO System’s values

Reporting
• Work with the VP of Business Development to establish relevant monthly, quarterly and annual key sales, technical and marketing performance indicators (KPIs) for the region
• Communicate with VP of Business Development on POGO customer and technical issues and ensure that all technical interactions are accurately reported and followed up using Zendesk. Will report summaries and trends to the team as necessary during (daily and) weekly staff meetings
• Will report weekly to VP of Business Development and sales team on actions taken and on growth opportunities being pursed with comparison to established KPIs
• Review technical support inquiries daily and respond directly and/or employ key support personnel when necessary, so that problems are resolved without delay. Responses will include phone calls, web conference, and email as needed
• Review and report on monthly sales analysis to include all POGO Products and services (POGO Pro and Pro+, TurfPro cloud, POGO Weather, POGO Lab Analytics, POGO Accessories, Mapper, and other related products)

Transactional
• Review sales quotes and orders daily. This includes entering orders as necessary and ensuring that the backlog for production is accurate.
• Maintain forecasting tools
• Assist with technical testing in POGO development efforts (App development, beta testing, hardware testing) under direction of the VP Business Development and engineers
• Cooperate in developing training modules and plans for best efforts to help customer base understand all aspects of the POGO system and how to use it to get the most out of our products and services
• Process technical support inquiries and responses, and document through support systems such as Zendesk, Goldmine, and through any further support systems the company develops
• Monitor and document product performance issues for trends. Utilize Excel, ZenDesk support system, and Teams communication to ensure product management, production and engineers are aware of the issue and trends. Report on timeline, resolution, or suggestions for additional needs and improvements
• Maintain FAQ database, logging questions, and answer correspondence
• Within the Region, maintain CRM system with updated sales order dates, lost sales, customer correspondence, closed sales, successful orders, and retention rate

Qualifications
Education and Experience
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Turf Management and Science, Agronomy, or related field
• GCSAA (Golf Course Superintendents Association of America) certified
• Business management training / education a plus
• Experience of being superintendent with a golf course or sports facility
• Experience with products and services in at least one of the following areas in turf maintenance equipment, plant health and nutrition, fertility enhancements and/or irrigation would be nice-to-haves
• Must be able to travel domestically and internationally as needed

Skills, Traits, and Background
• A member of Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA)
• Business development and related planning experience
• Fundamental use of MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook 365
• Understanding of CRM such as Goldmine as well as ZenDesk or related support system processes
• Punctual, committed, and dedicated to accepting tasks and meeting deadlines while remaining proactive in offering initiatives to improve all aspects of our POGO sales and support operations
• Ability to identify and communicate problems with proposed solution(s).

• Ability to communicate exceptionally well, be a strong listener, and handle good and bad messaging while always offering a calculated professional response
